This is the first Lphant version supporting Bittorrent (besides eDonkey). Both networks are fully integrated in Lphant, even a file can be uploaded and downloaded from both networks simultaneously. Also Lphant has a wizard that will help you to join torrents and elinks.

Soviel ich weiß, ist es seit der v1.01 ein closed source-Project.

lphant besteht aus mehreren Komponenten. Die Oberfläche ist unabhängig vom Kernel. Der Kernel ist außerdem Closed-Source also nicht frei zugänglich um so Modifizierungen die unerwünscht sind zu vermeiden (sowie Diebstahl desselbigen wie schon in der Vergangenheit vorgekommen).

Generell wurde noch keine Entscheidung getroffen ob der Mechanismus Horde eingebaut wird, da dieser zu sehr viel Netzwerkaktivität führt.

Ich kann momentan nicht sagen ob die Implementierung weiter vorangeschritten bzw. Überarbeitet wurde.

lphant ist zu eDonkey und eMule kompatibel. Einige Met-Dateien können zwar nicht importiert werden aber das stellt das kleinere Übel dar. Die Protokolle sind die gleichen.

Bittorrent and eDonkey networks are radically different, but combined correctly in a same client can offer good results. Bittorrent offers a download rate pretty constant while eDonkey download rate gets incremented slowly as the time pass. Not less important than performance, this Lphant version provides comfort, you won’t have to change your client depending what you want to download, and with Lphant you can download almost everything.

Also Lphant will automatically detect and detach torrents and elinks that are not correctly attached.

Besides the Bittorrent integration a lot of improvements have been done to the eDonkey implementation and to the interface. Also almost all the bugs reported have been fixed and some new configuration options have been added.

Another important improvement is that Lphant memory usage has decreased up to 50%.

Also, a new very functional Web style remote control interface has been added (by Galvesband), and the command line client has been improved to support the new bittorrent features.

Another newness is that the command line client + web interface has been improved and it can work correctly and stable in Linux / Mono (by Niltsiar), so hopefully Linux users have now a new client to play with.

Der Kernel ist closed-source, Source-Codes gibt's auch auf Nachfrage nicht. Nur die GUI ist opensource....

Hat wohl was damit zu tun, das man stolz drauf ist, BT zu unterstützen und nicht will, das es jemand mal ebend kopiert.

To compile the sources provided with 1.02 you must add the eLePhant.dll as a reference to the lphant client project.

lphant client remains open source. lphant kernel is no longer open source. It is explained in the license file. We got near none contribution to lphant at the kernel part since the project started, but many leecher mods and fake clients not respecting GNU appeared. So it has no sense to continue open source in the kernel part. Maybe this will change in the future if many developers want to seriously develop lphant.

hfa, anyway lphant never had a community support for kernel development. I am a bit disappointed for that. This fact and leecher clients and mods violating GNU, are the main reasons to close the kernel. I feel like a stupid giving the source to everybody without getting significant contributions but seeing other guys using it for his own profit
