) but the other checkboxes won't be enabled unless the 7z.dll can be loaded (it comes along with the installer and should be placed next to the kMule.exe).

Hm... AFAIR some clients are compatible but not "real" eMule clients - those get that icon... default was some "grey" icon AFAIR.
Which list(s) did you notice that in so I can re-check the icon settings.
